Brave New World

Brave New World has a lot of controversies like drug used, man-made humans and casual sex that state throughout the story. They predicted that these are the ways we would be living in the future. All of these factors are connected to ethics and depending on the person, can be ethically wrong or right. I, personally, believe its up to the person judging the situation to decide.

Firstly, we already live in a world where people do amateur version of what they are doing in Brave New World. There are people drinking lean and doing drugs like marijuana, cocaine etc. and having casual sex. Most people in today's society, such as myself, don't judge people based off of the actions, but they're character. Although there are people who will strongly disagree with my statement, I believe to each its own. What I will say is there lack of communication and there methods of recreations are a bit disturbing and i don't necessarily believe that that is the best method, setting people's faith for them is just wrong and shouldn't be condoned.

Overall, the story included many controversial topics that readers may and may not agree with. For the most part, I  had no problem with the lifestyle of how the people of the Brave New World were living their lives. I just didn't agree with the way they predetermined their faith for them. Choosing whether or not they would be of the high class or of the lower class.

Argument Timed-Write

Throughout the third quarter, we had a lot of timed-writes were would write essays within 45 minutes. With the essay below, I wrote about an excerpt by Oscar Wilde where he discussed disobedience and how it's a virtue to mankind. I, the essayist, argued  how valid his point was throughout the essays.

Quarter 3 Reflection

As a whole, 3rd Quarter was my hardest quarter. We were basically kinda rushed into all the work we were suppose to do. I appreciate that it's getting me ready for college, but i wish we were eased into it a little more. The topics we discussed were interesting, but i wish we had had more discussions and debates. I love talking and "arguing" points. Its one of my strong suits. So if there anyway we can incorporate that into 4th quarter or at least test it out, that'd be great. Our timed writes seems a lot more comfortable to so and the practice SAT question were something i wish we went over more. Besides that, i definitely enjoyed Quarter 3. I wish well for 4th quarter.
